Healthy Leadership

  • Healthy Leadership has 3 components:

    1. Establishing direction and climate – setting out a clear and inspiring vision, and engaging others in this and the resulting priorities
    2. Sustaining implementation – healthy leaders follow through and do what they say they will do, and this includes processes for capability building, learning and co-ordination
    3. Leading self and others well – healthy leaders are inspiring, soulful and appreciative. They also build healthy teams: teams characterised by high levels of trust, mastery of conflict, commitment to each other and the vision and accountable for the organisation’s results

    Improving impact and sustaining success
    We believe that leaders who deliberately focus on improvements in these three areas will be modelling healthy leadership, and giving their organisations the best chance for success. Research shows that organisations that focus on health in tandem with ‘classic business fundamentals’ (see left) achieve higher revenues, higher share prices and higher enterprise values than those that focus on the classic business fundamentals alone. They also have higher employee satisfaction ratings, lower staff turnover rates, and are happier places to work.
